Working towards Assignment 5

Experimenting again with double exposures , I used my old green case as the background  .

Hi Judy, I was looking at your images, and I think that I would be more curious (personally) to discover the objects as they are and not as multi-exposures, even if your experiments are in themselves really interesting.
Juxtapositions might work better for me as a viewer to create a multi-layered understanding of the character.

That said, the 3 images on the beach in which you put him in situation are working in a different way and I really like the idea. Have you try to frame it closer?

Hi Stephanie , I agree entirely with you , I am going to re-take and play around with juxtaposition.
I am thinking about the beach ones but wondering how best to incorporate them into the assignment so it’s not too disjointed. 😊

I agree with Stephanie – the individual layers are interesting in themselves for the first seven while the seaside ones are really interesting. For the RASC ones, have you considered something more like a collage or even just photographing them next to one another on your green case? The collage idea might work for the seaside ones too (a thinner panorama of the rocky coast, with a vertical strip containing your father, perhaps?)

Hi Simon , I had thought about collage but have never done anything like that before , I like the idea . I am running out of time so not sure if this will be achievable but certainly something that really interests me . Looking for inspiration tonight and I am definitely going to re-take the first seven. I really need a 48 hour day ! 😊

It depends how these fit with your overall theme and whether you go for colour or b+w. The second one has more impact for me because it points out that this wasn’t just young men posing but there was danger as well.
There’s something in me that wants to see more definite merging of he layers. I also very much like the beach ones, particularly the one of your dad sitting on a rock.

Thanks Catherine , I thought I knew how I was going to approach this assignment but it seems to be going in a different direction to what I anticipated at first ! 😊

I agree with the above comments about the seaside pictures. I think it’s an interesting reflection on transience of life. Juxtaposition, as Stephanie suggested, might be a very effective way to express your ideas in the first seven photographs. Wishing you a lot of creative inspiration!

Thank you Katarzyz 😊 . I think it’s interesting how you have interpreted the seaside images . I had this in mind but it also represents an assimilated memory too which I shall write about later in my blog .
